The photographer that I choose was Annie Liebovitz. Annie was born on October 2nd, 1949 in Waterbury CT. She received her education at the San Francisco Art Institute. One of her first jobs was working with Jann Wenner for the Rolling Stones magazine. I chose Annie due to the fact that her photos made me think of one of my friends. This is because the photo of Merly Streep pulling her skin reminds me of my friend Emma who has really stretchy skin! I will emulate this photo by painting my friends face white and taking the picture while she pulls her skin. I think that this photo will come out really well.
In the photo by Liebovitz there is not a lot of contrast between lights and shadows, but there is a good contrast between the white and darker colors.
The studio lighting is most likely coming in from the left side due to the fact that her subject has small shadows on the left half of her face (our right). The simplicity to the focal point in the photo attracts the viewers eye. This is a very interesting photo that is also very original. I have never seen a photographer use someone's face in such a manner. This photo is very interesting and has a unique aspect to it.

The emulation of Annie Liebovitz photo is very successful from my point of view. Although it is not perfect it is as good as I could do. This is because we did not have the proper clothing nor a very effective way of apply the white paint. The task at hand was very hard. We also had a hard time with a fan to make the same effect for the hair in the emulation. It may not be perfect in some eyes but it is almost perfect to me.
